Strong primary health care (PHC) provided a critical first line of defense as countries grappled with COVID-19. Around the world, policymakers, practitioners, and advocates continue to work to maintain PHC as a comprehensive, coordinated, person-centered resource for people and communities, and to strengthen PHC to better respond to future epidemics and other crises.
Between 2020-2022, PHCPI in collaboration with the Joint Learning Network for Universal Health Coverage (JLN) created a Community of Practice to promote cross-country learning and sharing of best practices among a community of policymakers and practitioners with the goal of strengthening public health and primary health care (PHC).
Over the course of two years, the COP facilitated a Learning Exchange in three phases: a Collaborative Problem-Solving phase (Oct 2020 – March 2021), and two Implementation Learning phases (June 2021 – January 2022; March – November 2022).
